"Poisonous" does not mean deadly. Some manifestations of toxicity are subtle. The dose, as always, determines if a plant is safe source of nutrients or a toxic hazard.

BRIEF: Is garlic poisonous to dogs?

QUESTION:
I got a list of posions from my vet and garlic was on it, yet many dog supplements have garlic. So what is the word on Garlic?

ANSWER:

An overdose of onions and/or garlic cloves could cause anemia (not to mention bad breath) in dogs, among other species. I doubt that the amount of garlic in the supplements is doing anything harmful (or helpful, for that matter). Dogs are so easy to feed well that people need to find gimmics like dog supplements to keep consumers actively consuming.
