PLEASE NOTE:
"Poisonous" does not mean deadly. Some manifestations of toxicity are subtle. The dose, as always, determines if a plant is safe source of nutrients or a toxic hazard.

BRIEF: How do I get rid of knot weed or bamboo?

QUESTION:
I don't know if you can help me ? I have knot weed or bamboo all over my yard and I've tried everything to get rid of it. Even digging it up by the roots, but that still doesn't help. Its very persistant. Could you tell me if there is anything I can do to get rid of it? I also have two small children. Is it poisonous?

ANSWER:

Some people react to this plant and others are not bothered by it. I don't know how to get rid of it-the highway department chops and sprays and burns it, but it comes back. I imagine these treatment need to be repeated over two or three years to really kill it off.
