"Poisonous" does not mean deadly. Some manifestations of toxicity are subtle. The dose, as always, determines if a plant is safe source of nutrients or a toxic hazard.

BRIEF: Is bamboo toxic to dogs?

QUESTION:
My neighbor planted bamboo in his yard and it is starting to shoot up in my yard. Last night I noticed my dog eating shoots that are starting to come on our side of the fence.  He seems okay this morning, but went back out to try to eat more. Are these toxic?

ANSWER:

I don't think they should be a problem, but it depends on what species of plant you really have. Lots of things get called bamboo...
