"Poisonous" does not mean deadly. Some manifestations of toxicity are subtle. The dose, as always, determines if a plant is safe source of nutrients or a toxic hazard.

BRIEF: Do you have any information on a plant called Hogswart?

QUESTION:
Any information on this page about a plant called "Hogswart"? It's Latin name has the word Herculean in it, I think. It is very big, grows over 7 feet tall, native to Russian provinces, I think. If it touches your skin it can cause a burn, very serious. It has been found in Alden, New York. Please let me know any resources about it?

ANSWER:

Cornell produces a pamphlet on the beautiful, striking but really painful and annoying plant. Check with your county extension office.
