PLEASE NOTE:
"Poisonous" does not mean deadly. Some manifestations of toxicity are subtle. The dose, as always, determines if a plant is safe source of nutrients or a toxic hazard.

BRIEF: Can the azelea cause previously normal canine sperm to become abnormal in morphology?

ANSWER:

The adromedotoxins in azeleas and rhododendrons and sheep laurel are potent nerve and heart toxins; even the honey from this plant is supposed to be toxic, but I am not sure this is true. I can't see that it would do sperm any good, but have not direct evidence of effects directly on semen.
QUESTION:
I am trying to get information on the toxic effects of the Azalea plant. More specifically, can the injestion of this plant cause previously normal canine sperm to become abnormal in morphology? Any information you can provide would be extremely helpful.
